Welcome to the Oligarchy of the United States, where people with money will make the most terrible decisions imaginable while telling everyone that life will be better! Naturally, most people are beginning to reject this lie due to their lives not changing when rich people get more money, but mainstream media is still strong and in effect. People are starting to leave, however, and even though they reside in different countries, the dollar is still more common, so folks are trying to get jobs remotely to afford the cost of living. Think of it as extreme commuting, but instead of a suburb, people are moving to the country of Georgia. Unfortunately, when an oligarchy wants to exert power, it will do so, and a lot of those companies that made so much money still want people to stay under their thumbs.
Many corporations built elaborate campuses that took over suburbs, downtowns, and everywhere in between, modeling the obsolete idea that a big building was the ultimate symbol of success. Those buildings, and the process to complete them, were very expensive, from buying local elections to recruiting staff to move to the new tax break location. Therefore, those companies want employees from the United States to fill up those buildings and live out the fantasies in the executives’ heads of running an urban plantation. Nevermind that there are so many examples of people from other countries working for those same companies; no, no, it is crucial for folks from the United States to live in the United States.
Those companies fail to understand that their standards are keeping the country from moving forward in the evolution of work. People from around the world are coming to the United States to get education and get jobs, but most of the native ideas are the same because students and workers from the United States are harassed to believe that they live in the best country in the world. Leaving the country would allow a lot of workers to become empowered because they could actually develop enough resources to not be in debt, and debt is the only leverage that most companies have. It is intriguing to read job posts that say the employers allow remote work, but demand that people live in the area when the jobs fail to afford the potential workers enough money to live reasonable lives. That is by design, and people are sick of it.
Truthfully, companies and politicians want the workers of the United States to remain in the country because if we leave, we might be susceptible to the idea that maybe the United States is not the best on multiple levels. Really, they just want all the babies to support the economy, and we know it, but we also know that babies cost too much in the United States. We might live in countries where there are both public and private healthcare options, offering affordable alternatives to medical debt. Healthy food might be considered a reasonable investment in society instead of a luxury for the pampered few. Most importantly, people might be able to live small lives, and not clamor for attention with people dead set on ignoring them, leading to a much healthier work/life balance.
