No One Ever Wanted Saviors

Life in the United States is becoming unbearably difficult, even for people accustomed to managing deprivation. There are so many old hacks that no longer work, and with climate change, even the ol’ “grow food in a garden” will be out of reach for most individuals. People often smirk at those who are struggling, and offer the unhelpful advice, “No one is coming to save you.” The truth is that nobody ever asked to be saved, but those who hoard control and resources stole the opportunities for personal autonomy.

Saving money is not possible when wages do not accommodate whatever sociopaths feel entitled to charge. When people have consistent resources on scale with the cost of living, they very easily avoid debt, which is why the credit bubble is both recent and completely preventable. During the creation of the middle class, there was no consistent acknowledgment that a failure to sustain reasonable wages and living costs would completely dissolve the existence of a middle class. The real problem is that there is a desire to enslave people and torture workers without accountability, and people are trapped in jobs while employers saunter through unnecessarily complicated hiring processes.

In the past, science was used to solve a problem, usually a specific problem, and make it easier to avoid said problem in the future. During the 1990s, there was a fetishization of technology that convinced people to use it even for mundane tasks, such as making appointments and setting timers. Now, technology is only used to take away people’s ability to rescue themselves from bad situations, which is why many of the low-experience, moderate-wage jobs are disappearing. Unfortunately, this means that many people will remain unsafe due to an inability to become gainfully employed.

People who are actually suffering have no idea why watching others suffer is a form of entertainment for those with control and resources. Nobody was saying anything about wealthy people for the longest time, and now the only thing that anyone can do is discuss how selfish and relentless such people are. There was no interest in being “saved” by anyone on the planet, but people who enjoy torturing others refuse to stop, and they have the means to continue, which is the only problem that needs to be addressed.
