Wasting Time

One of the biggest lies that the dominant narrative likes to repeat is that of “incrementalism,” which is the mistaken belief that if people will be patient, terrible situations will improve. Racism, environmental degradation, socioeconomic inequality–all can be improved if people just wait a bit and allow the dominant narrative to continue operating without interference. Usually that deluded mentality comes from beneficiaries who never have to serve as collateral for denigration or distress, and the repeaters often know they are lying, but want to be given the benefit of the doubt. People are finally understanding that such statements about “incrementalism” are never made in good faith, and believing that tomorrow never comes is entitlement, not “being in the moment.”

Within the narcissistic experience, there is a tactic known as “future faking,” wherein the abuser continues to delay relief for poor behavior with the idea of improvement. Things could be terrible, but for that moment alone, there is an idea of self awareness and a willingness to collaborate with others. In truth, the “changes” happen for a short period of time until the abuser becomes frustrated with the lack of chaos, instigating problems just to restore their sense of control. As the target becomes accustomed to the negativity again, the abuser is relieved of the responsibility of being anything other that what they are. The target, meanwhile, has become acclimated to the belief that they should only exist within the chaos of others.

This dynamic has gone on for centuries within the empire, and there are still sycophants parroting the nonsense of “incrementalism.” For them, the sycophants want to make money and maintain their standard of living without thinking about the costs towards those who suffer to keep the illusions alive. People who are oppressed and suffer from the issues within the dominant narrative can be desperate for the comfort that they rarely receive, and they will cling to even the idea that things will be better if it means that distress would finally end. Nothing substantive may be happening, but marginalized and distressed individuals have already been trained to accept emotional neglect, so the concept of waiting is expected, not anomalous.

Often, I get a lot of friction from people who say that I fail to talk about “conservatives” and “Republicans,” who project the dominant narrative as the only way of living, even though several other countries live in different ways. In response, I would offer that people who are obviously dangerous rarely get a chance to engage with me, because I can see them coming and understand my responsibility to avoid them. Consequently, I have never spent more money than on “liberals” and “Democrats” telling me they “love” me and to keep waiting for things to be better. Years of life, thousands of dollars, and hours of emotional labor have been spent on future-faking, and most of that will never be recovered

Sycophants and beneficiaries will never admit this, but the real reason that they keep talking about “incrementalism” is being they honestly doubt that anyone will ever refuse to engage with them. So many have conditioned themselves to believe that they are “good people,” and that everyone will give “good people” a chance to prove themselves, and they idealize themselves so much that they think people will never leave. This mindset is one of the pivotal reasons that the empire is collapsing, and why the United States has never been able to realize racial justice or socioeconomic equality. In the end, people understand that we have to give up on the sycophants and beneficiaries who cannot accept that there is pain in the world that they cause.
