Pleading for Emotional Maturity

Technology is slated to take away a lot of jobs in the near future, and instead of the very reasonable panic that most of the population should feel, there seems to be unmitigated glee, jumping on the bandwagon as if money will fall from the sky for them. I should know, because until recently, I worked for an AI startup before seeing all the information about the smells, loss of water pressure, and the generation of e-waste. What struck me the most about the delusions of technology was the complete lack of empathy about the environmental circumstances imposed on people who had just been living their lives. Suddenly, all these people who are using low-level jobs to feed families and raise children will have no options, and all the executives can see is the possibility of more money. The callousness about how technology degrades both the environment and the quality of life for the majority of humanity needs to stop, and the emotional maturity about reality needs to increase.

When the cotton gin was developed, slaves were not given more leniency despite the newly-discovered ease of processing. More was demanded of them and profit, and because slavery was about control and using human beings as inanimate objects. Violence escalated because in the minds of plantation owners, they were owed the money that would justify the barbaric practice, and everyone else started to realize how bad it looked. During this time in history, not only has more been consistently expected of all employees in all fields, but the “elites” are destroying regulation so that the most vulnerable people cannot even afford to live. Basically, wealthy people have initiated the final stage of murdering everyone they view as unworthy through starvation and overall deprivation. Rather than call these monsters out for their obvious violence, I find more disrespectful justification than ever in an empire that is currently attacking its batteries in concentration camps.

Another case for reparations to Black people within this technology rush to destroy us for some reason is the destructive work of bigoted algorithms. People refused to hire and promote Black people, kept us in entry-level positions even when we switched employers, denied us bonuses and good reviews, and blackballed us when we quit for our own mental health. Now, everyone wants AI to take away jobs, destroying the environment and making us vulnerable to the decimation we have been trying to avoid for centuries. Are people literally sentences swarms of human beings to death because they 1) refuse to release the delusions of capitalism and 2) enjoy emotionally torturing Black people who got educated? Our existence has constantly been limited by people who cannot control their urges to abuse us, but we are somehow supposed to rise above it?

Permanently taking away jobs means more than loss of income, especially for all the psychopaths who keep trying to demand more children. First, people who are in abusive situations are forced to remain in those situations as the barely available entry-level jobs stop becoming options of escape. Secondly, no one will be able to support ourselves or meet the fake “market price” that scam artists and abusers are demanding for their goods and services. Third, the environment will no longer be able to sustain human beings since all the water used for technology will take away a basic socioecosystem. I have said it repeatedly, but stupid people make money because they never consider the consequences of their actions. Smart people solve problems because they are generally long-term thinkers.

Now is the time to confront the press about its smear campaign of all the “lazy workers” whose greatest crime is demanding that their jobs meet the cost of living demanded by strangers. If technology is only taking jobs away from people, then do people really “not want to work,” or do people with control and resources just not want to pay them? The only purpose of technology seems to be taking away income, and I guess “elites” are so stupid that they believe money will just walk itself into their pockets without ever touching their “lessers.” Economics and STEM have become studies in eugenics, and there is nothing to redeem their advancement. People should be figuring out how to critically think and heal the environment, and economics and technology have nothing to do with those goals.
