Chasing a Chance to be Poor

Most of the people who are leaving the empire have resources aplenty, but the majority of the country wishes that it was anywhere but here. The idyllic lies about how “great” things were in the old days have fallen short of reality, and now history is showing the world how people were conditioned into being batteries for emotionally immature individuals. In the past, people were able to look at their existence and claim that they were “middle class,” which just meant that they were not considered the bottom of the barrel or a threat to wealth. Now that psychopaths have been allowed to fulfill their darkest desires, more people are looking for a chance to live a reasonable life without having to amass a fortune.

A lot of older people like to sneer at younger folks wanting to be famous without understanding that they created a world where nobody can afford to be poor. Back in their day, janitors owned homes and took vacations, and community organizations were able to gather enough resources to save houses from foreclosure. Without restraint, the exploiters and extractors have decimated local communities and their resources, blowing away any chance at the poor being able to help each other in the long run. Younger people have acknowledged that wealth is improbable and chasing it is a waste of time, so they are looking for a chance to be anywhere but here because at least in other countries, the poor still have some quality of life.

The lockdowns scared a lot of individuals who had spent most of their days and lives consuming things they could have done without, and they were terrified at how shallow they were, if they had any insight. People who enjoyed the pandemic lockdowns figured out what made us happy, and it was not chasing hierarchies with insecure people for the mere pennies they offered us. When people clench their fists over all the opportunities and resources, everyone else is forced to make enemies out of everyone around them to have a small piece of success. That kind of lifestyle is depressing, antisocial, and highly stressful, and those who are able to be “successful” in such environments are rarely kind and thoughtful individuals.

Earlier this year, I opined that poorer people solve problems because we have no choice, while wealthier individuals generally use money to solve even the most basic of problems. As time has progressed, I have only seen how true this has been, especially since rich people have spent more time trying to shelter themselves from the throngs of the impoverished around them, rather than repenting. Poorer people are more communal than rich people, and we know that rich people are too busy hoarding to survive. Why would we willingly continue to endure indeterminant struggle when we could go build communities with others who actually have the skills to maintain communities, not just talk about them?

Furthermore, poorer people are looking at the planet’s dwindling resources and are trying to problem-solve, not ogle the morons flying private planes to rented out cities. The only distance between problems and solutions is resources, and we are considering how to manage that, instead of imitate willfully stupid people. The Met Gala, the Oscars, the Nobel Foundation, and all the rest of it appear wasteful, desperate, and completely out of sync with reality. After all, the wealthy are so cheap that they are looking for all the environmentally-wasteful “solutions” they can get so they can fire all their poorer staff. Wasteful people are not environmentalists, and have no plan for a life without constant waste, which means they are worthless in discussions about planet maintenance.

Poorer people may be struggling from day to day, but their thoughts are generally centered on how they can survive another one, not how long they can take from everyone at all times. True, poverty is not virtue, but the capacity to leave others alone is more of a benefit than taking could ever be. There is no glory in extraction, and the empire demands that people be willing to take from everyone else on the planet in order to have even a modest life. Nowadays, people would rather do what they can to get away from those who force insecurities on everyone so that we can calm our nerves and live smaller lives. Wherever that can happen, that is where the people want to be.
