Ever since Trump was reelected, he has inspired a group of evil individuals to act on every vile delight they have ever held without voicing them aloud to polite company. For the rich, he offered them the destruction of all the safeguards that would prevent individuals from gaining financial freedom and avoiding crippling debt, just so that the poor can consume themselves into destruction. Technoligarchs have been allowed to extract and violate all elements of privacy in the name of artificial intelligence, leading to environmental destruction all over the planet. Black women have been a particular target based on the arrogance of one to compete against Trump, but this attack has been going on since Black women had the audacity to become one of the most educated classes in the empire. Harm and evil have taken over everyday life, and there are still those “conservatives” who say that all of this is necessary to create a glorious, new beginning that will never challenge their ill-gotten beliefs.
More important than all of the evil done, I have been watching what liberal people have been doing, which is a whole lot of nothing. Protests proved ineffective when people were being attacked and stolen during the 2020 uprisings, but people still act like behavior that requires the permission of the dominant narrative–permits, police escorts, street closures, voting–will be effective to inspire “revolution.” They cry into cameras and post on social media, but they cower in the face of sacrificing any real power or true amount of resources. All these psychopathic billionaires are allowing people to stay homeless, unfed, etc.–even the “good ones” that sycophants rush to defend. In truth, liberals have been watching the atrocities taking place and recorded them or commented on them, but they have done very little, which is why racists are still getting paid. Too many liberals are still trying to smile and dance like nothing has really changed, akin to what another author mentioned elsewhere as “the good Germans.”
Normally, I try to avoid dichotomies since imperial residents are indoctrinated with them, and they are inherently narcissistic as multiple things can be true at the same time. However, I feel that I can say with confidence that many conservatives prefer the opportunity to harm those they feel as “other,” and liberals like to watch them do it, getting off on the “bad feelings.” Black people are caught in the middle of some grotesque theatre where our pain is the spectacle, and those who claim to protect us cannot shy away from their voyeuristic tendencies. Conservatives yield the whip, and liberals yield the camera, and none of it qualifies as a reduction in violence for any of their targets. Society within the empire is collapsing because nobody has any morals to understand that both side are wrong, because they want to believe happy things–i.e., they are emotionally immature.
The non-violent harm is just as devastating as the pain endured. No, it is not less fretful to keep demanding that others wait for your “systems” to work when there are literally monsters chasing everyone in the streets. Yes, it looks evil to comment on atrocities that could be stopped if some could relinquish resources that could aid escape, or diminish their own power so that others could wield it. Nobody is looking for people’s smiles and “good vibes” to protect them, so if that is all “liberals” have to offer, they were never the “saviors” they thought they were.
