Within the empire, freedom abounds.
The food is free, served on the backs of those who fear bullets for their efforts.
Education is free when the ruling elite decides that one deserves to avoid ignorance.
Teaching is free because no one will pay those to dare to educate.
Housing is free when one’s home is “history” while others struggle to enrich the one.
Work is free because those who “create” jobs are entitled to all the fruits and the labor.
Status is free because “some” people are just born being “right.”
Although, under those circumstances, nothing is free.
But everyone needs something that no one will give: choices.
The choice to learn because so much of what is expected is a rigged lie.
The choice to speak while those who have nothing to say could finally be silenced.
The choice to leave when everything fails and the vulnerable choose not to fix it.
Choice is real freedom, and those with control and resources dare not give it, for fear of collapse.
