“Why Is It Different Here?”

Most people have relocated at least once for a new job, and many employers feel completely justified in offering less and less money for the privilege of rebuilding one’s social network. One frustrating aspect of relocation is changing addresses for a number of different services, but for some services, they advertise being available worldwide, so it could be assumed that they would be available wherever one went. However, because of the growing international unrest, even companies are starting to offer limitations on how they function everywhere else, and people are catching up to the collapse of “available everywhere.”

First and foremost, when political relations are screwed, currency values fluctuate on a regular basis. Therefore, just because someone paid a consistent price in one country does not mean they will pay the same price abroad. Travel is short term, but the company wants to know that it will still receive money despite an individual’s quest to “find themselves.” To be certain that profit will occur, the company demands to know that people will be staying put in one location so that they can regularly withdraw from people and/or offer irregular service.

Additionally, labor laws and organizing work differently in other countries, so companies getting away with not consistently paying people or taking higher percentages may hit walls when trying to behave as they do at home. The longshoremen in the United States may be forced to tolerate a capitalism-centered smear campaign from the press, but the public is merely informed about when rail workers go on strike in European countries. Bad behavior is not simply swept under the rug all over the planet, and again, when everyone is starting to have enough, people start coordinating accountability, and company reputations are less solid.

Finally, all the countries in the world never agree to anything, let alone how to practice capitalism. If they had, life might have been different for the countries which had been extracted from on a regular basis. When people start seeing that a company has less to offer because of a home-based bias, that reduces viability in another location. As time progresses, more of these international dictatorships in the form of corporations will start to die, simply because they moved to arrogantly to be tolerated forever.
