Black Responses to Racism

“We’re sick and tired of you not working for free and catering to our every whim while we beat you down in every way possible! Unless you want to work for bad wages and mistreatment, you have to get out!”

“A bunch of us are going to starve because most of you couldn’t afford to own slaves. What are we supposed to do? Oh, well, some of us are starting some Black towns, so we’ll figure it out. ‘Bye!”

“What are you doing, building nice things and starting schools for yourselves? Don’t you know you’re supposed to honor the fact that we’re the most important people in this country?”

“You told us to leave, and we left. How could you possibly be angry that we found our own way without you?”

“Oh, so that’s how you want to talk? What if we burn all of your towns to the ground, including you?”

“Why would you do that?!? What do you want from us?”

“We want you to come back and work for free and take all the mistreatment because we feel like it!”

“Look, why don’t we just try to live together, then? That way, we won’t be better than you because we’ll all be equal.”

“YOU WILL NEVER BE EQUAL TO US!!! We’re going to take your communities through zoning, and make it harder and harder for you to survive!”

“We thought you believed in freedom and rights. Maybe if we run for office and win, you’ll see that we’re not that scary, and we’ll finally be able to live reasonable lives.”

“HOW DARE YOU WIN ELECTIONS!!! We’re going to terrorize you more every second of every day until you stop telling us anything other than ‘Yes, sir/ma’am’ and ‘No, sir/ma’am’ all the time!”
