To me, the activity in the world has demonstrated that the beneficiaries and the sycophants have become manic to the point of disrepair. Instead of considering that there are a lot of issues that can never be fixed in a reasonable lifetime with the institutions that created the issues, people are still trying to tell themselves that the damage can be repaired. No amount of meetings, social media posts, or anything else has put a dent in their tenacity, and they are stalwart in their belief that if we just vote “hard enough,” and “believe” that we will smile our way through this reign of terror. That kind of positivity needs to diminish, because world issues do not go away because people in the dominant narrative need fantasy.
Pretending like problems are invisible or irrelevant is not helping anything, and everyone who is still playing the game of closing their eyes and imagining that the problems will dissolve are effectively abandoning everyone who is dealing with the consequences. Racism always existed, and I could not care less what celebrities keep parroting to keep their paychecks thick. Classism is what was used when racism could not explain how a majority of beneficiaries and sycophants were still poor and struggling while the “elites” stayed comfortable. No amount of kissing up to evil people will eliminate the problems that exist, including all the environmental issues.
“Good people” are getting less and less, and there is little comeuppance for the efforts and years lost to the belief that there is “good” in everyone. There is a felon serving as the current emperor, and nobody cares what the deluded think about his acquisition of those felonies. Messaging says that there are no morals in the United States, and because people make excuses for monsters instead of holding feet to the fire and demanding better behavior, that messaging stands. “Kindness being its own reward” matters less in a world of unrepentant takers during a time where social media is repeatedly telling people that no one owes anybody anything, regardless of what has been received.
Holding everyone hostage to fantasies is not making any measurable dent on reality, and smiling–or attacking people who fail to smile and “look on the bright side”–is not a plan. Everyone understands that comfortable people want to pretend that there is no problem so that comfort can be the end of the conversation. Well, those same idiots are still enduring cost increases and the only difference now is that no one cares when the comfortable complain. They had decades to get over themselves, and still failed.
Saying “no one is coming to save you,” and attempting to command everyone to stay stuck in useless cycles is neither a solution nor “edgy.” If there are no jobs, no money, no clients–due to lack of money, no resources/materials, no time, no space, and nothing being poured in, what is everyone supposed to do? Regular human beings cannot pour blood from a stone, and telling us that we all need to “get with it” means nothing. “Get with” what?
“Not seeing color” led to a bunch of suburbanite Nazis marching on Washington, DC and recreating intimidation photos of the 1960s. Telling ourselves that “elites know what they are doing” has led to money and power destroying anything related to educational credibility within the empire. The only point to toxic positivity is to delude oneself into thinking that the problems will magically go away. Reasonably, these manic fools are dreading the accounting that is coming, largely because most of them know that they will be on the wrong side of history, and no one will care about their feelings ever again.
