Landlords, Stop It!

Well, apparently, in addition to managers not understanding when their input is neither desirable nor reasonable, landlords are under the mistaken impression that everyone wants to make them rich. For once, I am avoiding the private equity goons who buy up properties to falsely demonstrate demand, thereby colluding with real estate companies who then demand incentives to build white communities. Private landlords have some balls of steel to demand the right to make income from those who are desperate for housing, and I am speaking from a variety of experiences. I have shared a room in a hostel situation, I have had my own room that my roommate could “accidentally” lock me inside of, and I have also had my own room where I had to share bathroom and kitchen space–in addition to a perfectly reasonable landlord for my own apartment, and many unreasonable property management companies. Recently, I had moved into a place managed by a company for protection, but then the owner said that they were “in the red” and had to sell the place that I dumped my savings to enter. This is the kind of behavior that private landlords need to address lest people start reclaiming properties just to end the irresponsible ideology that created landlords in the first place.

One of the obvious issues is how “real estate investment” is portrayed for the majority of the population, everything from spam texts to the Home and Garden Television channel. To so many people, real estate and rental property management are demonstrated as a magical, money-making scheme with no responsibilities. Many times, none of the conversations talk about how operations costs work, instead showing how no money should be entered into the homes but money should come pouring out from the poor saps stupid enough to commit. Throughout these industries, there is a pervasive delusion of money walking from other people’s wallets into the landlord’s, while the landlord gets to set outrageous standards and hold deposits hostage. So many landlords came into the field with this ideology.

In reality, there are a bunch of idiots turning luxury accommodations into pest-infested slums because the idea of maintenance is a foreign concept. Even when they promise and sign contracts, they end up not paying for cleaning staff, but being surprised that people lack the time to manage a healthy home because of the prices they demand to charge. Whenever conflict arises, including when people have their own spaces, there is no true management of it, leading to displacement of people who were trying to eliminate issues without real authority. Finally, there is a general failure to respond to basic needs, such as laundry, utilities, and repairs–but they are always willing to threaten to raise the price based on regular wear and tear on a home.

At this point, upper middle class imperial residents have just taken everything that idiotic billionaires with no connection to reality have to say, and it shows. They need to stop listening to stupid people who think that businesses happen by magic. Those “elites” have waaaaay too much distance from actual administration, and they do not know how a business actually works–typical of people who inherit, like most of them did. Most of them spend time buying properties to get profits to cover debts, instead of operating within their means because they are greedy hoarders. They have no real understanding of how moving/income/utilities work, and think people can just up and move after spending hundreds on relocation. Listening to stupid and cruel people eventually makes people stupid and cruel, and that is why we have a housing crisis, not because migrants need to be exploited to sweat out new homes more quickly.
