So many people have been whining about the rest of the world’s response to the imperial rhetoric, mainly because instead of “welcoming” us, folks are starting to encourage imperial residents to go home and stay there. Regardless of our propaganda painting us as heroes, the rise of social media has ironically started informing everyone of who we really are and how we behave. Imperial residents thought that everyone wanted imperial dollars and imperial favor, and so we have had the nasty habit of going to other countries and expected the United States experience somewhere else. However, the empire has a history of enacting violence across the globe to get what it wants, and the rest of the world is finally responding with disengagement. Instead of fighting or becoming subjects, sometimes the time comes to walk away from those who cause indiscriminate harm.
We need to stop being entitled brats who want the “benefits” of violence without managing the consequences. No, we were not the heroes of the world wars, especially since we could not be bothered to get into the mess we inspired for years. Our technology does not happen by magic, and our food is not magically plucked from fields, processed, and placed in grocery stores. Migrants take care of all of us in systems that were created to emulate slavery, and all of our industries are complexes that suck the life force out of everyone involved. Just because some fools want to believe in Puritanical values–folks who also had slaves and used people, mind–does not mean we earned our way to act like fools around the world.
People are allowed to stay away from folks who cannot relieve their minds of indoctrination and want to exploit others because they are avoiding the mess at home. No more skating across the globe watching dollars stretch instead of legitimate engagement with the world around us. There are cultures that have lasted longer than the empire has been a concept, and it is time to stop pretending like the empire has anything comparable, other than indigenous entities that most of us do not learn. Maybe if imperial residents want to be welcomed, some more welcoming action should be projected on our end.
