No one chooses to struggle in the empire, and I mean absolutely no one. When the majority is struggling, statistically speaking, it is impossible for everyone to have made “bad choices” that they just need to acknowledge to move forward. The denialism that gives people the mindset that “everyone has a chance” is evidence of brainwashing, not common sense. So many elements of today’s empire could have been better shaped if people were willing to emotionally evolve to see the world around them, not swimming as the main character in the ocean of billions of fish. Here are some reminders as we move forward from the mania that “all everyone needs to do is [thing everyone has done which has changed nothing].”
In a world of relentless development of luxury housing, no one chooses homelessness. Period. Anyone stupid enough to believe that should get better friends or go outside. Why are unhoused people “unstable”? Because they never get any rest since everyone has an opinion about being unhoused without a readily available solution because too many people think hoarding “elites” have “good ideas.” No one chooses the responsibility of constantly hauling all their belongings, never being able to bathe or void, and never getting through a full sleep cycle. This is a stupid idea, and no, the first person to consider that people want to be homeless was an idiot, not a pioneer. People choose to have different kinds of housing–not a mass-marketed tent–but no one thinks they have a grand idea to avoid being safe from the elements.
For all the morons who think that the majority of humanity is “bad with money”–not just in the United States, but in the entire world–no amount of hustle will buy someone a house at $7.25/hour. I could care less what some fucked up, hoarding “elite” has to say about the matter. Unless all the beneficiaries and sycophants have magical math, no, it is impossible to pay bills, survive, and raise families on that little money. Only stupid people who have never had to start over with nothing will believe that, and only people with the same privilege will agree. It is heartless and evil to deny reality when most people have the same responsibilities.
No one cares that morons think they are telling everyone “how it is.” Offering “tough love” usually demonstrates that someone is out of touch, and that someone is unfamiliar with someone else’s lived experience. As for me, I am telling no one how it is, even here. What I am is angry that so many beneficiaries and sycophants feel comfortable “explaining” how life ought to be when their lives have worked out comfortably, even overcoming struggle. Emotionally immaturity and failing to actively engage with others is a great way to get a number blocked and for people to move without forwarding addresses. Survival does not facilitate those who are still looking for easy answers despite all evidence to the contrary.
History has been written by victors, which means that almost none of the mass-produced, often-taught “information” is true. Only now that more people have voices are we finally getting perspectives on how selfish and unrelenting the dominant narrative truly is. None of the imperial systems have helped everyone at all times, and once more people could participate in the systems, the rules changed so that people could keep their power because they could not imagine a world they could no longer control. Things change, and nobody cares what it was like in the past, and the “solutions” offer very different outcomes not. Nobody has experience with the present, so we all need to take a breath and start considering what we want a future to look like, not a past that can no longer exist.
